- Eggs immature when passed in sputum (rarely in faeces)
- Not infective to human
- Miracidium hatching from egg is infective to snail intermediate host
Diagnostic Features
- Size: 85 µm x 53 µm (range: 68-118 µm x 39-67 µm)
- Colour: Yellow to dark brown in colour
- Shape: Oval or elongate; Slightly flattened on one side
- Small, flat operculum
- Thick shell; Shell is thicker at the end opposite to operculum
- Contains an unsegmented ovum
