- Detected in faecal specimens of infected human
- Eggs immature when passed
- Not infective to human
- Miracidium hatching from egg is infective to snail intermediate host
Very similar to F. buski egg and difficult to differentiate between the two
Diagnostic Features
- Size: Large; 145 µm x 80 µm (range, 120-150 µm x 63-90 µm)
- Shape: Broadly oval
- Colour: Pale yellow brown
- Small, flat operculum, but not clearly seen
- Shell is thin
- Contains an unsegmented ovum when passed
